On April 17, 2018, The Sumter County School Board recognized the Women of Hope as “Outstanding Volunteer Organization” for their support of Webster Elementary School for the 6th year. Attending the meeting from Women of Hope were Margaret Furlong, Bette Lou Schaum, and Lynn Tuerk. Presenting the award was Superintendent of Schools Rick Shirley.
Hope’s congregation, through the Women of Hope, has provided school supplies, shoes, and clothing for needy children, paid for a field trip for each grade kindergarten through 5th, and brought first graders to Hope each December to present their Christmas program to Hope members and guests. In addition, under God’s Work, Our Hands, a career fair has been planned and conducted by local volunteers.
